RSS feeds - Part 1 & 2

I think they have great potential for liaison librarians who can subscribe to numerous feeds to keep up to date with trends, resources and news in specific subject areas. Rather than roving aimlessly through site after site looking for useful information you can simply select each relevant feed to come to you!

I'm not so sure about the RSS search tools - on quick inspection there appears to be a lot of commercial sites and not a lot of academic content.... such is life on the internet...

I do like Technorati - blog searching by subject seems to extract some useful content. I think co-workers and library networks would also be a very efficient and reliable source of quality RSS feeds.

Technology

The pace of change in all things technological can be overwhelming (and a little unsettling) when you look at Gizmoz...

Learning stumbling block or learning breeze?

Which of the 7 1/2 habits is the hardest for me?
  • I think many of these habits are inter-related so it's difficult to select just one habit as the easiest or more difficult.
  • Habit 4 - having confidence in myself as a competent, effective learner is somewhat of a challenge for me, remembering that it's OK to admit you know nothing about a topic and need to start from scratch, although I think I'm getting better with age! I guess this also ties in with the 7 1/2 habit - play! Tha is, recognising the value of revealing your ignorance and just giving something a go even if it means a lot of mistakes along the way.
  • In fact for the me, mistakes often promote memory burn allowing me to take the next learning step!
Which of the 7 1/2 habits is the easiest for me?
  • Creating my own learning toolbox.
  • I like organising things and in terms of my own learning I like to control the format and process in which it is done.
